Hunt Story

Saw a lot of action that night. Had some small bucks chasing does on the food plot 200 yards away. A large doe with her two fawns made their way through the clearcut my direction and walked into the woods behind me. Not 5 minutes later, I had quit paying attention to them and just let a nice mature 8-point walk by, who went on about his business. I heard crashing running my direction from where the doe and fawns had gone. I stood up to watch, and the two fawns came flying by me headed back into the clearcut. I looked for movement and spotted this buck walking right to me. He walked up at 35 yards and stuck his head into a licking branch on a scrape right below me. With his head up and working the branch, I dropped him right into the scrape. It happened quick, I did not recognize the buck, and I was quick climbing down to put my hands on him. He was my last buck tag for the year.
