Hunt Story

This is a deer that I have history of for the last three years. I passed this deer last year in bow season hoping he would make it through the year. He did and stayed on a protein feeder and peanut field all summer. When bow season opened this year, this deer was walking solely in daylight hours. I had him on numerous cameras in a core area and the anticipation began. I knew he should be 5.5 years old this year, and he was definitely on the top of my list. I hunted him all through bow season seeing him once. With the changing winds I was never able to get the job done. So when muzzleloader season came in, I knew I had a week to get it done or he wouldn't make it through gun opener, with all the daylight activity. With the temps dropping for the weekend, I knew the does would be on the corn fields and the bucks would be frisky. So while hunting on the cut corn field, the buck walked out at 6:50 bumping a doe and feeding in the cut corn. I waited about 10 minutes for the deer to offer a decent shot. When the shot was presented, I took the shot and the deer fell in his tracks.
