Hunt Story
Haven’t been seeing any big deer this year, but went Sunday afternoon just to enjoy the woods. This buck came from behind me which is a direction they travel frequently. It’s on a steep hillside that acts as something of a funnel. The wind was blowing fairly briskly, causing my quiver to sway in the wind as it was hanging on an EZ-hanger. The buck picked up this motion but couldn’t make me out, thanks leafy wear. He eventually gave me a 20-yard broadside shot. He ran about 40 yards and went down. I thought that was it, but he got back up and ran 70 yards down the steep hill. Recovery was challenging. My personal best buck. Over the moon about it.
