Hunt Story

I rotated stands the last few days. Each time I would sit in one, the other camera would get pictures of him. I had my wife sneak me in close to the stand on our electric ranger about 5pm. I watched about 15 does for an hour or so. I texted my son that I felt good about the likelihood of the buck coming in. Ten minutes later he walked out in the top of the food plot. He walked straight to me at about 70 yards. I took three deep breaths and squeezed. Nothing. The dang safety was on. Three more deep breaths and a delayed shot. I actually thought it was possible that I missed. The powder didn’t immediately ignite. There was a delay that stressed me out. I waited on my son to get out of real estate school and drive over. We immediately found blood. The buck went about 65 yards into the planted pines. He was bigger than the trail cam pics showed. It was a good day.
