Hunt Story

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, I killed my biggest deer to date. I decided that I would hunt in what we call the “Big Food Plot”. It was a foggy morning with temperatures in the 60s. Around 7:30, a small buck came into the food plot and fed for a short while. After he left, 4 does came in and fed for about a half hour. A little while later, I saw movement over to my right. When I looked, I saw the side view of the largest buck I have ever seen while hunting. I knew immediately that he was a shooter. The next thing I knew, a doe walked out into the food plot in front of me. Some turkeys that were feeding in the food plot spooked the doe. She began to trot across in front of me. As soon as she came across, the big buck came running behind her. I knew if I was going to get a shot at him, he would have to stop. I bleated at him 3 times before he stopped and looked back at me. I shot and he bounded off into the woods. After what seemed like forever, my husband arrived and we went into the woods to locate him. After about 15 minutes of looking, my husband found him. He crashed about 50 yards from where I shot him. I thank God for allowing me to kill this buck (my biggest to date). I also thank Morgan Yawn, my husband for teaching me to hunt and for sharing the great outdoors with me!
