Hunt Story
I had seen this 10 pt. on several cams on our farm over the summer, and a few times from a stand before the youth season started. My 12-year-old grandson Walker and I had patterned his travel corridors, so we set up for him this afternoon at a field he likes to come to late in the evening. He came into the field around 7 p.m. along with several smaller bucks. It seemed like forever before Walker could get a clear shot at him because he kept chasing does in and out of the field. After several nerve-wracking minutes, he finally stopped at 125 yards. One shot from his 7mm-08 behind the front shoulder and the brute piled up 35 yards away in the pines. I can't describe the elation and pride I felt for being a part of his hunt for this buck. It started way back in the summer and ended on the last day of Youth Season.
