Hunt Story
I recently passed my hunter safety course online and my dad finally agreed to let me go on a hunt with my rifle by myself. I had been at the youth impact weekend with the church so this was my only hunt of the weekend, and I told my dad that the Lord was going to reward me with a chance at a big buck and I knew which stand I wanted to go to. My dad told me that the wind was not the best for that stand but I got scent-free shower and sprayed down good with cover scent spray. I was settled in the stand by 4:00 but didn't see anything until about 5:15 when three does came out and ate in food plot. I was watching them and turned to see this huge buck come out on the other side of me down a food plot. He wouldn't stop and I was trying to determine if it was a deer that we knew as a shooter. His rack did not look like a buck we had but I felt like he was a 5-year-old from how big his neck and belly looked. I decided that he was a shooter but he was walking out of the plot. I hollered and he stopped but his head was in the bushes. I made the shot but I was nervous about it. My friend that was hunting close walked down and we looked for blood but we couldn't find any. We decided to walk to the area I thought he ran and she found a little blood on a trail and then we started to find more and more and then my buck.
