Hunt Story

This deer was known as R Curly. I've had him walk under me once in November of the 2021 season right at dawn with no shot. During Archery season 2022 I saw him again after sitting in a 2 hour downpour that stopped 30 minutes before dark. I saw him, he was out of range, the wind was swirling, he smelled me, and hit the deck in tall grass until post dark that evening. I sat there for 45 minutes after dark hoping he moved on before I climbed down that evening, not to scare him away forever. With Hurricane Nicole headed this way the next few days and many hours spent in the woods the past few weeks waiting and hoping for him, I was praying he would move on the night of the November full moon and hopefully I could catch him moving that AM before he laid down for the storm. I was correct, a buck emerged from the woods and it was him. After 2 seasons, the hunt is finally over. Today, Nov 10th would have been my Stepfather's 60th Birthday, he taught me to hunt, and passed away Jan. 2020. It was special to take him wearing his old jacket and within 24 hours of what would have been his 60th birthday. I think I had some help from above.
