Hunt Story

I had seen this buck on a trail camera a few times this year on a small plot of land surrounded by cotton fields, no more than 500 yards from my house. As I got set up this morning in my brand new tree climber, I had the feeling that it could potentially be a good morning. By 7:40 a.m., all I had seen was a bobcat. I had been using the rattle bag and grunt call. Around 7:45 a.m., I done a doe bleat and began to hit the rattle bag hard, while blowing deep buck grunts on the call. Immediately after I stopped, I heard a crunch not even 10 yards behind me. I looked and saw it was him. He began to run toward a fence row and wouldn't stop. Eventually he hit the trail of doe estrous that I had put out before the hunt. He stopped and turned perfectly. I immediately raised my gun and made a good shot. Being a big deer, he ran. After about 20 yards he dropped. It was a hunt of a lifetime, right here in South Georgia. I took him to the taxidermist and he unofficially scored 145. Still an awesome buck, and an awesome hunt!!
