Hunt Story
We got in the stand around 6:00 and did not scare any deer off walking in. When we got in the stand we got settled in. We sat and sat and saw nothing. Then, I saw a deer about 70 yards away, and it came in for about ten minutes and walked back into the brush. So, we kept sitting and saw nothing. Eventually, I had to cough so I tried to do it quiet, but it did not really work out and it was loud. We got blown at by a deer, but we never saw it. It was probably 100 yards away. We kept sitting and eventually got bored, so we were gonna get down in about five minutes. Then, my dad said I'm gonna rattle, and we'll sit for a couple minutes. He used the rattle bag, and five minutes later I heard footsteps. I put my gun up to my shoulder and looked through the scope. Then, I saw the deer and said to my dad, "I think it's a doe." Then, I saw his rack but it was hard to see. As the buck got closer, I said, "He's a shooter." He walked straight into my shooting lane directly toward the protein block. My dad said, "Permission to fire." So, I put the scope on him, moved the gun to fire, took a deep breath, and squeezed the trigger. I saw him do a donkey kick, so I knew I hit him. I watched him run about 25 yards and heard him fall. We climbed down the ladder, and I ran to him and counted his points. He had eight points; he had a ninth point but it was broken off from fighting.
