Hunt Story

To make a long story short, I spent 4 hours the day before hanging a bow stand that I was going to hunt in on Sunday morning November 12. But in Georgia, the wind never blows like you want it to. Therefore, I decided to hunt a different stand, which had lot of hogs visiting it. Unfortunately, this stand was not set up for bow hunting. So I grabbed the gun and was off to get some sausage. I got to the stand 30 minutes before daylight and crawled in for the wait. It wasn't long after daylight when deer were moving everywhere. It was a steady action of grunting and chasing. About 8:20 AM, a deer stepped out in the lane about 160 yards from me. I grabbed the binoculars to check him out. After further investigation, he was a no doubter. So I got the gun off and slung a bullet in his direction. I heard the bullet hit home. After settling down, I realized who the deer was. It was the deer I had been bow hunting for most of the season, only he was about 1,200 yards from where I was focusing on him. After a 2-hour waiting period and a 2-hour tracking job, we found my buck in the middle of a 4-year-old clearcut. It was definitely the one I had been bow hunting. I never dreamed he would show up there that morning. I never did see a pig. I did see 14 deer. One of them was my second biggest buck in Georgia. Funny how it works sometimes.... but that's hunting.
