I was hunting a white oak tree and jumped several does as I walked up to my stand at 5 pm. Once in my stand the does came back in at 5:15 pm. Several smaller bucks came to feed as well after does were feeding. About 5:45 a doe with 2 mature bucks came running by at 20 yards. The dominant buck stopped at 30 yards and snort-wheezed at the smaller buck but presented no shot. After 15 minutes the buck came to the white oak and turned broadside for a 20-yard shot so I took the shot. He went 10 yards and expired. Big thanks to my good friend Chris Morris for the encouragement to hunt that evening. Tag out this year with 2 mature bucks in Columbia and Glascock counties respectively.
