I’ve hunted this deer the last couple of years without ever laying eyes on him. He’s been MIA all summer but decided to show himself two days before season came in giving me some daytime pictures both days. I knew this would be my best chance at closing the deal. I was even more excited that he was still in velvet. I scrambled around Friday evening and put a plan together to go after him Saturday morning. Around 9:20 everything came together and worked perfectly. He gave me broadside shot at 38 yards. I waited on some family and friends to help with the tracking job. It didn’t take long to find him about 80 yards through the pines.
