Hunt Story
My son Trey and I were in a ground blind between a hardwood bottom and planted pines. The morning was still and quiet for the most part. I had told Trey that I was surprised we had not seen anything yet. Trey looked at me and said, ‘Dad I see a deer.’ I thought he was messing with me because I had just said I could not believe we had not seen anything. Trey said, “Dad I think it’s a buck.” I told him to get his gun ready. The deer stepped out where I could see him, and I told him squeeze the trigger. The gun went off and I saw the deer was hit. We found a blood trail and followed the deer for about 200 or 250 yards before we found him. The deer was still in rut and his glands were still very dark.
