Hunt Story

I didn't get long to hunt because I didn't get home till around five, but it was a long day and the end of season is less than seven days, so my husband asked, “Do you want to go get on stand before parent-teacher conference at 6:30?" I said sure. I know he wants me to get one of three buck as bad as I want one of them. I've hunted hard and had seen a lot of bucks and does but couldn't quite connect until now. Yay! He's been very patient with me to say the least. Thanks for not giving up. OK, how the events played out... well walking to the stand there were deer already eating grass in the powerline as the buck was walking away from us. So we climbed in the two-man ladder stand, so I had a prop as the deer turned and started to cross the power line. My husband talked to me telling me to relax, take your time, ease the trigger. The deer jump straight up in the air, kicked his legs and ran straight down the powerline toward the creek. I knew I had hit him. I was steady. My nerves were going crazy now. I kept hugging my husband, and he was saying I knew you would get him, I knew you would get one before the end of the season. So we calmed down got out of stand. My husband went to where the deer was and found blood, so we came back and went to the teacher conference. Came back and my husband got the dog and went to track my buck. It was the longest two hours ever. Within 20 minutes of looking, he called and said, "It's the good 8-pointer with the broken brown time" that we both knew all too well with tons of camera pics. I just want to thank my husband for everything and the Lord. None of this magic would be possible without him. Yay my first buck.
