Hunt Story

This deer was result of a 3-day camping hunt at Clybel WMA. Scouted day before hunt picking about six spots. When driving by one of the first pull-offs, nobody there so I pulled in and set up about 40 feet up a pine. View was mix of open pines, green field and oaks with primary scrapes overhanging field edge. The later is what I believe key as the deer passed by scrapes. I was slow to see him so had to draw and shoot 160+ yards hard over left shoulder as soon as saw him. Disappeared so waited 30 minutes later to find him 10 feet from where shot. Saw about 16 deer total in three days on six different places. Deer didn’t seem to be in full rut but acting rutty like pre-rut but close to full blown rut. Had great time, didn’t get home till Sunday after arriving Tuesday p.m. Beautiful place and always learning more like what a awesome dove operation they have at Clybel WMA. Thanks for the opportunity and always enjoy GON magazine.
