Hunt Story

After shooting a coyote early, I watched a small 8-point buck and a doe feed in the stand of corn. A while later, after the other deer had moved on, this mature buck eased to the left edge of the field, scoping things out on his way. After viewing him through binos, I decided he was a shooter. Once he got to the edge of the plot and decided things were safe, he started walking across the green plot toward the stand of corn. He didn’t stop, so as he was getting close to the corn, I tried grunting to get him to, but he continued walking, so I let him have it at 75 yards before he entered the corn. Dropped him in his tracks with a .243wssm. I saw 6 does and a small 6-point after shooting the buck.
