Hunt Story

I was hunting private land in Madison County. The day before opening day of bow season I saw “Dude” on camera in the evening during daylight. I hunted opening day in the evening and didn’t see him. I had let the camera and food run out and then on 10/8 I put more food out and got the cell cam back going. That evening on 10/8 he was there before dark. This past week I had hunted Dude 6 times and Thursday afternoon he came by around 5:40 p.m. He completely shocked me when I saw him. Right away I knew it was him. The wind was in my favor blowing away from the feed. But when he circled in, he stopped right before he got to corn. He knew something was off. He bobbed his head up and down and looked up at me. I had my crossbow on him and when he looked like he was about to pounce I put a great shot on him at 30 yards. I got down maybe 25 min later and started looking for blood. Before I found a blood trail I looked up and he was laying there. He only ran around 40 yards and had died right away. It was a surreal feeling. God is good.
