Hunt Story
I had ordered a new Ravin crossbow, but wasn't supposed to arrive until late opening day so I wasn't planning on hunting opening morning. My brother (Chad Carter) called me the night before around 10 pm the night before season opener, asking if I wanted to use his Ravin, and he would just sit with me at my spot in the ladder stand. I immediately said definitely let's do it. So opening morning were in the ladder stand at 6 am. At 7 am my feeder goes off and awakens the woods. Around 7:15 am we spot a few small bucks and a doe heading our way. There for a minute a little 6-pointer knew something wasn't right. Over the crest of the ridge I could see another tall 8-pointer I had on camera working his way around eating white oak acorns. About that time my brother tell me the big 9-pointer is coming into the feeder. He slipped up giving me a 28 yard quartering away shot. As soon as the bolt hit him, I could see blood pouring out. He went about 25 yards before sliding down the ridge into the creek. Awesome hunt especially having my brother with me.
