Hunt Story

My husband and I went out to the blind around 2:30 Monday afternoon. Our hunt started by watching five turkeys make their way through brush. They stopped to peck at acorns on the ground when a young doe stepped out. We watched her graze acorns for about 45 minutes before she exited our line of sight. My husband used both rattle horns and a bleat can in hopes of coaxing something else to our area. A little while later the doe slowly made her way back to our area, it took her about 30 minutes to get to a place where we could get a good look at her. Finally around 5:00 this big man stepped out where we could see him! We have been watching this 10 point buck for about two months now, so my heart was racing. As luck has it, I couldn't get my gun up and ready fast enough to shoot. We waited and used the bleat can hoping he would be curious enough to head back our way. Around 5:15 he finally came back! We watched, with hearts racing, for 10 minutes waiting for him to turn so I could get a clean shot. He finally turned and it was game on! I shot and we heard him crash just seconds later. This is the best deer I've ever harvested and will be a hunt that I will not soon forget! My husband and I were married in September, so we are thrilled to have this belated wedding gift!
