Hunt Story

It was opening day and my son and daughter both had sports. My son had a football game at 10:30 am and my daughter had to cheer for a game an hour away at 1:30 pm. I told my son we would have to wait and hunt Sunday afternoon and we went to the games. We finished around 3 pm, and on the way home my son said, Dad, we have time to hunt now! I looked him in the rearview mirror and said I doubt we will make it home and back to the land in time. He seemed let down, so he prayed, then said, dad I have a good feeling about hunting. How could I say no to that? So we get home get ready and head 45 minutes back to the land. We get in at 6:30, and not long after we start seeing deer activity. First a nice 9-point and a smaller 7-point then two yearlings run them off. I told my son to be patient that this happens all the time, then I see the 8-point in full velvet walk out, and I said, get ready he's coming this way. He takes aim and I range him at 34 yards, I told Tate if he was ready to take the shot. He slips the safety off gets steady and slowly squeezing the trigger he places his shot about as perfect as possible, and the deer dropped in his tracks! Both in shock and excited we look at each other and my son says see dad told you I had a good feeling. This is his 2nd deer and first buck and I couldn't be more proud!
