Hunt Story

My husband and I have property with some nice deer but wanted another tract near us, and a great friend put us in touch with a property of 200 acres 3 miles from us. We put up only two ladders and a couple of cameras and saw the great potential this property has! On this evening hunt, I saw a doe walk from behind my left at 5:03 p.m., and walk within 20 yards of my stand up toward the road and joined another doe to eat the corn. About 8 minutes later, I heard a noise from the same direction and slowly turned getting a quick look at the biggest buck! I had little time to raise my gun but got a chance and as he walked within 25 yards. I waited for a broadside shot and took it! He ran a circle down back behind me and I heard a crash. Waited 30 minutes, got down to look for a trail, but didn’t find much. My friend Todd came to help and we searched for 1 1/2 hours in the thick brush, but couldn’t find my buck. I returned to the same stand to hunt the morning and formed a posse around 10 a.m. Within 5 minutes of looking, Todd found my buck!!! We walked all around it that night, don’t know how we missed it? Thank God it was a cold night and he was fine! One happy hunter!!
