Hunt Story

It was a beautiful morning for Washington County as the temps were in the 40s just before sunrise when I arrived at the built tower stand. I was hunting this stand due to the fact I had gotten a few pics of this buck at this particular stand in the past few days. I settled in and around 8 a.m. I had a couple of young bucks come by the corn and move on through. Then a flock of maybe 15 turkeys came through and ate some corn also. It was a bright moon lit night the night before so I always try to stay a little later in the stand during those days. There was a short lull of no activity from maybe 9:15 to 9:45. I text my wife at 9:59 a.m. (she was in another stand maybe 800 yards away) and told her I was going to sit until 11 a.m. since it was such a nice day. At the moment I put my phone down and looked back up the buck was walking out into a shooting lane. I raised my binoculars and need immediately he was a shooter but didn't know it was the "freak". I put the binoculars down and raised my rifle out the window of the stand. By now he was almost across the lane and I made the "meeh" bleat sound and stopped him. He stopped and looked back. I shot and he made it maybe 10 feet from where I shot him. It was an awesome day to be able to take this deer! I am blessed beyond measure. I am 50 years old and have been in the woods all my life and I am still amazed at God's creation!
