Hunt Story

Sunday morning my son and I got up a 4 am, and the rain was coming down hard. We went back to bed and got up at 7 am for breakfast and decided to do a midday hunt. With the rain storms coming and going throughout the day, a box stand seemed to be the logical answer; however, with an east wind it made it difficult to pick a good box stand. So we decided on one that gave us the best wind direction. At 11:15 am, the 12-pointer came out of the east of the clearcut area, but he didn't present my son with a good shot. About 11:40 am a doe ran out of the pines by the food plot and stopped in the cleared path in front of the box stand. She then takes the first shooting lane back to the pines while looking back nervously each time. A minute later, the buck reappears, runs in taking the same path as the doe. The buck presented himself giving my son a shot. He squeezed the trigger.
