Hunt Story

This was the first time I had been in woods this year. We had seen this buck on camera and decided it was one that we probably should try to shoot this year. He walked up from a different direction than I expected, but I immediately recognized him. From 30 feet up the tree, he initially didn’t look that impressive, but I knew he was the buck we had on camera and he was a shooter. The shot was 15 yards and slightly quartering away. I texted my dad and son right after the shot. My dad met me at my truck to help with the recovery. When we walked up on him we were both blown away at his body and antler size. It was by far the biggest deer I have ever killed. On the scales, it weighed 204 lbs field dressed. I could not have gotten him out of the woods by myself.
