Hunt Story
I passed this buck up a dozen times or so in 2015 as a 120-inch 3 1/2-year-old. I started running cameras this past June and was fortunate enough to get pictures of him regularly throughout the summer. Because of that, I was able to pattern him pretty well and on opening morning I arrived at my stand at 5:30 a.m. At 6:40 he came out of a thicket about 30 yards from me with another younger buck. It was still dark enough that I wasn't 100% sure it was him but knew it was a nice deer. When he walked down a road 20 yards from my stand, I took the shot. I heard him crash 50 yards away. I couldn't stand it and waited all of 7 minutes to get down from my stand. I was ecstatic when I realized it was him!
