Hunt Story
On the morning hunt, less than an hour into my son's bowhunting career, we had 3 bucks, a 4 pt, 120" 10 pt, and 150"+ likely bow county record at 20 yards for over 5 agonizing minutes, all on video. The big one finally turned broadside at 20 yards, but he shot right under him...he was completely heartbroken (so was i, although i tried not to show it for his sake). Went home, practiced at 20-25 yards at lunch, and went back out that afternoon. Unbelievably, 20 minutes into the afternoon hunt, this 12 pt. stepped into the hardwood bottom. I turned on the video and after another agonizing 10 minutes, the deer fed in front of us and turned broadside. He drew back but the deer turned toward us, so he had to hold it back for over a minute before making a perfect 25 yard shot. The deer ran about 60 yards and piled up. And we have it all on video! He likely has no idea how rare these two hunts were. A memory for several lifetimes.
