Hunt Story
It was my first hunt of the year on Oconee WMA, and I had done no scouting. I went to a spot I had known from previous years hunting this area. I saw no deer all morning until 8:38am when I looked behind me and there he was. I turned and shot him at 40 yards with my 35 Rem lever action rifle. And he took off running. I got down out of the stand around 10:30am and blood trailed him 50 yards and found him. My buddies and I then drug him more than 900 yards back to the truck.
