Hunt Story
Got in stand at daybreak. Woods were foggy until 8 a.m. We saw a few does up to about 9 a.m. and didn’t see another deer until 11:30 (small buck), then at 12:30 we saw a wide rack buck in a deep ravine in the only mature woods left in a 300-acre clearcut below us at 190 yards. I grunted a few times to see if it would grab his attention and it did, he began toward our food plot while checking a couple scrapes. He worked to us slowly which gave my son ample time to settle his nerves. At 80 yards he settled in on the shoulder and dropped his first buck.
