I saw the buck I call Hank 11-5-2023 at 8:30 am chasing and tending a doe around 400 yds away for around 30 minutes. He never got close and chased the doe into the woods that’s a known bedding area. I came back at 3:00 p.m. to the same stand and had a feeling they never left the bedding area. At 5:15 pm a small spike came out on the other side of the field from the wedding area around 200 yards away. I heard grunting and chasing in the woods behind him around 5:30. A big doe popped out from the same trail and started to feed. The spike came over to the doe and then stopped and ran into the cotton. I looked in the binos to see what he was running from and saw the big mature 8 I shot. He came out grunting and ran the spike off. He came back to around 225 yards and stopped and I rushed the shot and missed. The doe and big 8 acted like nothing happened. I took my time on the second shot and dropped him at 5:38 p.m. in a cotton field with a rifle.
