Hunt Story

We had been watching this buck on camera all summer as his antler growth developed. Then all of a sudden he would only show up every four or five days. He was the one I had hoped to shoot. Everything was so dead quiet opening day and at 6:20 pm deer started pouring in the field. He came walking outta the woods at 6:30 and gave me a perfect 35-yard broadside shot. I knew it was a good shot. He ran back in the woods the way he came out and I heard him crashing. Texted my husband and told him I had shot the wide 8. Then less than 45 minutes later I was able to put my hands on him. One of the highlights of the day was we had our 11-year-old granddaughter that had spent the weekend with us and was hunting a buddy stand with her papa when I shot him, and she helped find the blood trail and loved every minute.
