Hunt Story

The hunt dates back to Wednesday (10/23/2024) the first daylight picture I had of this buck since getting him on camera in early August, his appearance was shown at 9:50am. I was fortunate enough to have Friday morning off from work and knew I had to slip in the stand. After seeing a couple of does between 8-10:15 I get a text from my friend saying, “Need to stay in til around 11.” With this text I had already made my mind up of staying in later than normal. After not seeing a deer for about 30 minutes I was discouraged and wanted to get out the stand immediately. With this thought I looked over and there he was! 20 yards away and heading down the hill in front of me. I grabbed the bow, drew back and let it fly. After the shot I could see my arrow still in him, with confidence of the placement but worried it wasn’t deep enough. I gave him time to expire. After an hour of several phone calls and text messages I headed out to track the deer solo. With not much blood to start I got worried. I was on the phone with my best friend and he helped me stay calm. After discussing with him I decided to walk the edge of the creek down the hill, low and behold there he was piled up 60 yards from the shot. Come to find out I hit him just a little higher than anticipated but more than less thrilled to see him expired. Once recovered I made more phone calls and waited for Calvary to arrive, many pictures were took and many memories were made. Me and my friend rough scored him at 123 2/8 in. Needless to say my biggest buck ever and most importantly it was took with a bow. PS. I had this deer on camera dating back to 2022 and with many encounters and failed hunts he was able to make it to this year and boy did he blow up in those three years.
