Hunt Story

My name is Ryan Brooks. I am 14 years old and the son of Jim Brooks. I was hunting an old food plot field that was slightly overgrown. My dad had picked me up from school and took me to the stand that he had hunted three times in the past few days. I got on the stand about 3:45, put out my Tinks 69 scents and sprayed my Nose Jammer cover scent. As I settled in, I started to see does come through. I saw a total of six does in about a two-hour span. The last doe that came out into the field turned and went back into the woods instead of crossing the field. About 2 to 3 minutes after the doe went back into the woods, I saw the 8-pointer stick his head out of the thick brush surrounding the field. As he stepped out into the opening, I drew a bead on him. He was quartering away, so I placed the crosshairs just behind his right front shoulder and pulled the trigger. He jumped and ran about 50 yards plowing over trees and kicking up dirt and leaves. I saw him drop and immediately text my dad. The weather that day was perfect. It was cool, overcast and no wind at all.
