Hunt Story

I had seen this buck and one more running from the planted pines to the woods a week ago. I put a tripod up watching the road through the woods and the corner of the pasture. I had two does walking up the field road behind me, and I thought they had seen me. This was the first time that I sat in this stand, and I thought my cover was blown. Little did I know the does were watching him come through the pines. He did the same thing as last Thursday, he ran quickly over the road and jumped the cow fence and started into the heavy woods. I stopped him and made a shot, I actually missed... I haven't sighted in my gun because I have been bowhunting all year. I took my time and squeezed off another shot, and he disappeared. I knew I had missed, but when I walked down there to find blood he was laying there. It was a pleasant surprise. This is the first buck I have shot in 4 years... I killed a 176-inch deer in Kentucky in 2012, so I had been waiting to shoot a good mature buck. He's not the biggest one I have on camera, but hopefully I will get him as well.
