Hunt Story

I have seen this buck on trail cameras all season but only between 1 to 4 a.m. I have one picture of him on Dec. 18 at 9 a.m. Of course I am at work! On Nov. 24 it was scheduled to rain overnight and first thing in the morning, so I planned to hit the woods as soon as it stopped. I climbed in the stand about 8 a.m. and watched the squirrels run. Then about 9 I see some does scatter to my left. One approached me and stopped on the hill directly behind me, seeing I am at the bottom of the hill. That's when I see the rack of the big buck known as Mc Daddy in our club. He started approaching the doe that came behind me when a shot rang out in the distance. I said "Oh NO!" don't freeze and run now. This is the first time I ever had seen him except on trail cameras this season. He paused and then took a few more steps when my rifle rang out. He wheeled and ran. After 15-20 minutes I could not stand it and got down to see a bright red blood trail. After a short 30-40 yards he expired from a lung shot. What a great day to kill a great buck on my late father's birthday who taught me everything about hunting. This buck was dedicated to the best dad ever!
