Hunt Story

My hunting time is limited as I am a coach for the defending 6A state football champion Lee County Trojans. Since we are in round 3 of the state playoffs, I only got to hunt in the evening during Thanksgiving break. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving day my wife was adamant we go hunting. At about 17:10 she shot a 3-point buck. I sat on the stand for a little longer, and 15 minutes later I saw antler beams to my left. I looked and here came the biggest buck I had ever seen. I eased up my trusty Winchester '06 and flipped off the safety. I saw him walking toward me and put the crosshairs in his path. He walked right into the crosshairs, and I made a perfect shot through the heart/lung area. I hand load using Nosler Ballistic tips and the old Model 70 dropped him in his tracks. This was also the first time we both harvested deer on the same day.
