Hunt Story
Saw the deer on trail camera two weekends ago at the food source at 5 p.m. I planned to hunt the stand Friday and Sat evenings (11-4 and 11-5). Saw a small 8-point on Friday night. Then on Saturday evening he walked to 5 yards right under my stand. I waited till he walked out in front, when all of a sudden a flock of turkeys came down the same trail and spooked the buck, which ran off out of sight. A little dismayed, I thought I had blown it. Five minutes later he walked back the same trail and walked out in front of the stand at less than 10 yards. I put the scope on his heart and pulled the trigger, he dropped in his tracks. He was laying 5 yards from the road, which made for a real easy recovery. No tracking needed for a change!
