Hunt Story
Taking a buck in Buckhead (technically ITP Sandy Springs)! On Friday November 6th, Robert and his father headed to their ground blind immediately after he arrived home from middle school. Around 5:15 p.m. the woods came alive and a group of does moved in and started feeding near a scrape approximately 30 yards from our ground blind. Around 15 minutes later, the 9-point buck appeared from the north and tended the scrape. The buck had been seen previously on a trail cam fighting with two other bucks, so Robert grunted several times which cause the buck to leave the scrape to investigate the intruder. The buck went around a small thicket of privet and presented himself approximately 10 yards in front of our blind. The buck was inquisitive, but began feeding and remained there for about 10 minutes. This was the exact spot where he had fought with two bucks the morning before so Robert did not take him immediately as we were hoping a larger buck would arrive to confront him. As darkness was falling, Robert’s father handed him the crossbow and Robert arrowed the buck which fell in his tracks and was recovered immediately. The trail cam recorded the buck standing at 5:53 p.m. which was seconds before he fell. The buck field dressed at 210 pounds and had a live weight of 240 pounds! We are so proud of Robert!
