I figured the deer would be moving after the storm that ended around 2p.m. so I prepped and took off to hunt around 5:30 p.m. I’ve seen this buck during nighttime on my cameras. I set up my phone camera and watched the does move around and eat while the young bucks chased them. Right around 6:30 I saw a young buck chasing some does so I played around with my buck grunt call but careful not to scare anything off. Sure enough I had a buck with a tall rack come out in the corner of the peanut field. He started heading my way down the tree line. I was recording him while I got my rifle ready. He seemed really comfortable and started to slow down some. I aimed at his chest right in front of his left shoulder and I slowly pulled the trigger and knocked him down at around 122 yards. He fell right in his tracks. This is the biggest bucks I’ve harvested to date. Most importantly I got to celebrate with my family. They were just as happy for me as I was with this buck.
