Hunt Story

I hunted all weekend with my kids and had seen nothing but small bucks and does, and no rutting activity. On Sunday evening, my oldest daughter, Ansley and I, went and set up in a hardwood bottom a couple hundred yards apart. I had not gotten set up in my stand completely and a small 6pt walked right under me with its nose on the ground, which was hopefully a good sign for the evening. I ended up seeing several small bucks chasing does. I heard all of the bucks grunting in a thicket and then they would chase the does out into the hardwood bottom. After this had happened several times, I heard another grunt in the thicket and had my gun up and ready. The doe came out and this buck was right behind her. One glance and I knew it was a great deer. He stopped about a hundred yards away and I shot and he dropped. The Lord blessed me with a great deer, and I'm glad that my oldest daughter was there to experience this with me.
