Hunt Story

On the evening of December 22, 2020 I got up in the box stand around 4:10 p.m. and got settled in. Around 5:10 p.m. the first deer walked out. A half rack. I watched this deer for 40 minutes or so. Five does later came out in the food plot, and I knew it was close to time. The buck had walked closely after these does the previous evening. I knew this because of our Cuddielink cell cameras. I got ready for something to happen, and just before dark I heard two more deer headed my direction, so I got on my toes. I saw him walk out and was pretty sure it was him. There was three bucks I was hunting in the area, and I preferred this one, but I was ready for a buck. Just as the other buck traveling with him entered the plot he got into a good shooting window, so I lined up on his lungs and took the shot with my .270. Seconds after the shot I thought I heard him crash. I called my dad and he told me to stay put until he got there with the truck. As soon as we started looking for blood we had a good trail, and then we followed it for about 45 yards and then I shined my ahead and saw him laying there. As a big feeling of relief came over me we went and put our hands on the biggest deer I\'ve eve killed.
