Hunt Story
My dad and I didn't get into the deer stand until late that afternoon because we spent all afternoon talking ourselves out of going hunting because of the weather. It was really windy and cold. We decided to go hunting at the last minute and didn't get into the stand until after 5:30 p.m. We had be in the stand about an hour when my dad noticed movement about 100 yards to our right. The deer was slowly walking in our direction through some thick trees. The deer would take a few steps and then stop, look, and smell around. It took the deer several minutes (it seemed like several hours) to get in an open spot about 40 yards in front of us. My dad told me before the hunt to make sure to look for antlers before I shot because it was not doe day. I saw huge antlers when I looked at the deer through my scope! I squeezed the trigger on my .243, and the buck ran about 20 yards before it fell. My dad and I exchanged a hug and few high fives while we waited to get down and get my deer. I was all smiles as my dad took a few pictures of me holding my 9-point buck.
