Hunt Story
I got in the stand around 6:00 p.m. a little late. It was so hot, so I figured the deer wouldn't move until late that evening. My dad texted me and said he was watching a fawn around 6:45 p.m. when I texted him back saying I haven't seen anything. I could hear deer coming through the thick planted pines. The wind was kind of swirling around on the top of the hill where I was at. The deer held up in the edge of the pines for about 10 minutes before he stepped out in the fire break at 16 yards. The wind was blowing straight towards him and he could smell something he didn't like. He turned and walked straight away from me. I grabbed my bow, set the pin, and he walked in the only hole I had to shoot through. It was a hard quartering away shot, but I was able to make a good shot. The deer ran around 50-60 yards and that was all she wrote. My biggest buck with a bow so far.
