Hunt Story

I decided to hunt a climber that was situated about 80 yards inside of a low lying hardwood bottom off of a recent clearcut. Had hunted this spot previously and saw a few does shortly after daylight entering from the clearcut. There were some recent rubs and an old scrape or two in the area. I figured this spot would be my best bet to catch a buck cruising late in the rut. Sure enough I saw a young doe early. Later I had a small spike come through. Shortly after the spike came through I heard what I thought to be a series of deep grunts coming from a thicket to my left. I decided to use my can bleat. About 5 minutes after using the call, I looked to my left and this guy was skirting the cut. I settled the scope of my .30-06 behind his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. He mule kicked and ran behind some brush. When he came back out, to my surprise, I settled the scope again and this time piled him up.
