Hunt Story

I got in the stand about 4:45 pm. At 5:30 pm, four does came out in the north corner of the food plot and started feeding. About 6:05 pm, I was scanning the edge of the food plot with my binoculars and saw the buck entering the plot through a bush hogged lane on the south end. He slowly walked out into the field and began feeding, occasionally looking up at the does. He was facing straight at me, and it took about 5 minutes for him to work his way out and finally start to turn so I could get a shot. The does started acting nervous, and he jerked his head up and started looking around. He was quartering to me pretty hard at 140 yards, so I put the crosshairs right behind his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. He did a high kick with his back legs and ran out of the field into the pines. I was sure I had made a good shot, so I waited about 30 minutes and got down. I went to the trail at the edge of the plot where he exited and found a few drops of blood. I followed the trail for about 50 yards into the pines, and he was laying there with his rack twisted up in some vines.
