Hunt Story

My 10-year-old son Mason and I were on a quest together to harvest this buck we named "Frying Pan." We were set up in an opening in an elevated box blind. We knew the deer was in the area as we had seen him two times prior to Saturday evening. We also had trail-camera pictures of him from the previous week. We had observed the deer nine days earlier crossing the opening with another 8-pointer. Knowing that the deer are stressed due to the drought, it is my assumption that the deer were leaving their sanctuary earlier than usual to travel some distance to water before dark, as this is not a normal pattern for them. We figured the deer would travel the same way in search of water again and it was a matter of time before we crossed paths again.
