Hunt Story

Nash and his daddy arrived at the deer stand around 4:30 p.m. Shortly after, Nash fell asleep. Approximately 5:15 p.m., about 10 deer and 75 turkeys came out into the food patch. Nash's daddy began waking him up because this is the buck they had been hunting all year but had never seen in daylight hours. The does and other small bucks heard Nash moving as he was waking up and got nervous. They hopped in the edge of the woods and began blowing. At that time, the big buck (which was approximately 30 yards from the blind) turned and acted like he was going to follow the does into the woods. He bounced a couple of times toward the woods, made a hard turn to the right, and walked straight toward the middle of the food patch (approximately 150 yards away from the blind). Nash's daddy said, "Lay it to him, buddy!" Nash shot and dropped him in his tracks. Nash began jumping up and down and was ecstatic because this was the first deer that he had shot all by himself. Nash said his daddy squeezed him as tight as an anaconda!!
