Hunt Story
My father and I got settled into our stand just before daylight. The morning started off slow at first and we didn’t see the first deer until 8:45. It was a mature doe and she came up the bottom toward us at a fairly quick pace. Right behind her was my buck. I got the rifle ready and waited for a clear shot. When he got into an opening and stopped, I shot him. The suppressor on the rifle makes it possible to hear the bullet impact the deer and I heard the loud thump it made when it hit my buck. He wheeled and ran, disappearing over the ridge. The blood looked suggestive of a liver or gut shot, so we decided to back out and let him expire. We came back several hours later to follow the blood trail and my Father was able to find my buck! The total distance he traveled was 340 yards according to the GPS. He’s my biggest buck ever and I’m very thankful to have found him.
