Hunt Story

I hunt on private land next to my office, so within 10 minutes of leaving that day at 5 o'clock I was in my stand. I had been seeing nothing but does and small bucks in prior evenings, so when this doe came up to my left in the edge of the woods I looked, saw she was a doe and then ignored her. After a few minutes she hurried off with her head low and her ears laid back. I have seen that look before and in a second the buck appeared. I immediately saw his crazy horn on his left side and knew he was the buck I was after. I shoot a Savage .308 and made a good shot right through the heart. He ran and left me no blood trail at all. I looked back and forth and absolutely found no blood. I was amazed. I remember from past wounded deer and how they will circle and run back the way they came from so I walked about 75 feet down the hill and suddenly it looked like you had unzipped him. I found him laying within 30 feet of the first site of blood.
