Hunt Story

I had gotten night pictures of the buck the last week of October and the first week of November. On Friday morning the 9th, I pulled the SD card from my trail camera at the food plot and saw that I had two daylight pictures of the buck from two days earlier. I had four days to hunt and vowed to hunt that plot from sunup to sundown in order to kill this deer. Luckily for me the buck stepped out into the plot an hour or so later. He was walking at a good clip, and I bleated with my mouth stopping him in his tracks. I shot him through the right shoulder expecting him to drop. He ran hard from the plot but had no use of his front right leg. I texted my buddy Tony Green and told him that I had shot a good buck. We gave him an hour before picking up the trail. The plot is surrounded by the thickest nastiest stuff. We worked our way in slowly and could find no blood. After 25 yards I spotted blood, we picked our way through another 10 yards and Tony said there's your buck! He had run head on into a tree and was tangled in it. He only went 50 yards after the shot. We had our work cut out for us getting the buck out of the thicket and then back to the road. We can't use four-wheelers on our lease! It was an awesome hunt and so much better being able to share it with a friend who was a huge help!
